Sandy McIntyre A decade ago, Sandy McIntyre was at the forefront of the income trust boom as a result of two simple beliefs – that the price paid for an investment and a company’s ability to pay profits to shareholders in the form of distributions are critical to long-term investment results. Now with the income trust sector changing, Sandy will discuss the current market environment and explain why this strategy should continue to deliver superior returns for investors. Michael Mahoney Michael will explain the tactics and investment strategies that the Picton Mahoney Long Short and Market Neutral Fund use to consistently outperform the markets with lower volatility. Their true hedge fund approach has allowed the Market Neutral Fund to post positive performance every year since inception in December 2005, despite the roller coaster markets since. He will also explain how their investment style makes use of technology, research and analysis to maximize risk-adjusted returns. John Thiessen The credit crisis of 2008 was a global financial event affecting individual investors, companies and even countries as a whole. Fortunatly, with every crisis comes opportunity. John will walk you through an account of what he sees as one of the best fixed income markets in a generation. He will show you how to lower the risk of a growth portfolio and enhance the cash flow, especially for more conservative fixed income portfolios. David Burrows David will illustrate his disciplined, active trading strategies that helped Barometer manage the tumultuous market over the past few years, making his High Income Fund number one in the category over the past 3 and 5 years. David will explain how he identifies areas of market leadership and how he protects capital with disciplined selling strategies that include putting stop loss limits on every position held so that downside risk is limited. He believes that “volatility creates opportunity” and will also share his lessons learned about profiting in all market conditions. John Priestman With over 40 years of market experience, John will explain how his income focused strategy analyzes the growth, predictability and stability of a company’s dividends to provide greater insight in picking investments that consistently outperform. The foundation of his portfolio strategy is based on a selling discipline that emphasizes early identification of underachieving investments to preserve profits and limit losses. John will also show how a dividend strategy can reduce volatility and enhance returns, as well as how dividends are just as important as capital gains.
